can you ?/ do this —
/ look /
/ petals I scattered / on path beneath /
can? / you continue?
/ leaving /
when once again / I have not-enough ?
silent / my never-enough / just now
/ mischievous /
air / swirls blossom-snow
/ thus what we think we know
/ transforms /
surprise / begets mystery
offers us this —
/ startle /
nothing remains the same / nothing changes
love I can / can I ?
/ welcome /
this pierce / this paradox /
/ this harsh requirement / our couple-colour iridescence /
lustrous
weave / you not staying / I remaining
poem and photograph by Jo Mariner
All I am going to say, is that I am really drawn to this poem . I like it because it captures the reality of relationships moving on – sometimes with some reluctance from one of the partners. What is very interesting is – from my point of view- the more I read it, the more interesting it becomes with its layers – as do relationships, have layers and are peppered with paradoxical emotions.
